Nicki Clyne is best known for her role as “Crewman Specialist Cally” on the hit sci-fi series, Battlestar Galactica, as well as being featured on a number of television shows, movies, and now, as the lead of the upcoming sci-fi web-series Personal Space.
Her love of performing started at a young age, with backyard dance performances and impromptu comedy acts, but it wasn’t until she starred in the lead role of “Annie” in her high school play that she considered it a legitimate career option. She found an agent soon after and started auditioning in Vancouver’s burgeoning film scene, landing roles in TV shows like Dark Angel, Dead Like Me and The Dead Zone.
Her affinity for comedy was affirmed when she starred in Vh1’s 80s parody, Totally Awesome, written and directed by Neal Brennan, and also starring Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan, Mikey Day and Dominique Swain.
Nicki continues to involve herself in film and television projects, as well as voiceover work; she voiced the character of “Soledad” in the illustrated film, Godkiller, and narrated a chapter of the audiobook for Max Brooks’ acclaimed World War Z. She enjoyed her time as the host of the SyFy web-series BlastrTV, where she ventured deep into the sci-fi and fantasy universe to comment on current and controversial topics.
In addition to acting, Nicki devotes much of her time to projects that seek to inspire critical thought and further ethics in the world. Through acting, she has found a way to more deeply understand the human condition and continues this pursuit by taking and teaching courses in personal growth and human performance. She also works with a new media company that analyzes news using a set of consistent, ethical standards. When she’s not in front of a camera or behind a computer, she loves connecting with people over big questions like why we’re here, what it means to be human, and how we know we’re not all cylons.
